Battery Scout Privacy Policy

Data stays on your Mac

Battery Scout does not transmit monitoring data to FluxDesign or any other party. It has no account system, advertising, analytics, or tracking. The App Store edition has no network access entitlement.

What the app reads

Battery Scout reads battery level and power-source status, running process names and executable paths, and accessible CPU counters. It groups helpers only when ownership can be established from a verified app bundle. CPU activity is a clue to possible battery drain, not a measurement of per-app energy consumption. Inaccessible values are shown as Unavailable.

Local history and preferences

The app saves battery readings and app-activity summaries in its private macOS container. History begins when monitoring starts and is retained for your chosen 1, 3, or 7 days, subject to a 300,000-row limit. Appearance and retention preferences are stored locally. History is not uploaded or synced by Battery Scout. Your Mac's backups may include local app data according to your backup settings.

Your controls

Pause monitoring from the dashboard or menu bar. Clear recorded history in Settings → Local history → Clear all history. If monitoring remains active, a new history starts afterward. Quit the app to stop monitoring. Launch at login is optional and off by default. Energy Mode changes are made in macOS System Settings.

External services

The Mac App Store and macOS may separately process purchase, installation, and diagnostic information under Apple's policies and your system preferences. Opening a support or privacy website in your browser is separate from Battery Scout's monitoring; that website may receive ordinary browser requests.

If you contact FluxDesign, we receive the contact details and information you choose to provide so we can respond. This is separate from the app, which does not transmit monitoring data.

Changes

This policy describes the App Store edition of Battery Scout. Updates to its privacy practices will be reflected in this policy and in its App Store privacy disclosures.
