FluxDesign · Battery ScoutBattery Scout support
Find possible battery drainers using measured CPU activity. For macOS 14 or later.
Getting started
Open Battery Scout and allow two samples, about five seconds apart, for the first CPU rankings. Use the menu bar battery icon to see the top three apps or open the dashboard. Close the dashboard to keep monitoring in the menu bar.
What does CPU activity mean?
100% CPU means one logical core. CPU activity is a clue to possible battery drain, not a direct measurement of battery consumption. GPU, display, network, disk, and shared-service costs are not included. Some processes cannot be read; missing values are shown as Unavailable.
Why is history empty?
History begins when monitoring starts. It cannot show earlier activity. Charts use minute summaries. Pauses, sleep, and relaunches leave gaps. Use Current activity, Last hour, or Today to choose a view.
How do I change energy mode?
Use Open Battery Settings in the menu bar or Energy Mode guide. Choose a supported mode in macOS System Settings. Battery Scout displays the active Low Power status. Automatic and High Power are not inferred from Low Power being off.
How do I pause or delete history?
Choose Pause in the menu bar or dashboard. In Settings, choose a 1, 3, or 7 day retention period, or Clear all history. If monitoring is active, a new history starts after clearing. Quit Battery Scout to stop it completely.
Launch at login
Keep the app in Applications, then enable Launch Battery Scout at login in Settings. If macOS asks for approval, follow the Login Items link. This feature is optional and off by default.
Battery information is unavailable
Desktop Macs may have no internal battery. macOS may also lack a reliable time estimate. Battery Scout shows No battery or Unavailable instead of inventing a value. CPU activity monitoring can still work.
Privacy
Monitoring data stays on your Mac. Battery Scout has no accounts, analytics, or tracking. Read the privacy policy.
