Getting started

Open Still from its menu bar icon, click just below your Mac’s camera, or press Control–Option–Space. Use the tabs to switch pages. On displays without a notch, Still sits near the top edge; choose its placement in Settings.

Connect Apple Music

Open the Music app, then choose Connect in Still’s Media settings and allow Automation access when macOS asks. Choose a song in Music. Still can show the current track and artwork, play or pause, skip tracks, and seek. It controls Apple’s Music app; it does not include a music subscription or a music catalog.

If access was denied, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation and allow Still to control Music, then reconnect. The App Store edition supports Apple Music; YouTube Music is not included.

Your calendar

Choose Enable Calendar in Still Settings to show an ongoing or upcoming timed event within seven days. All-day and cancelled events are excluded. Calendar access is optional. You can disable it in Still or revoke it under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Calendars. Still reads events and never edits them.

Use the shelf

Drag a file onto the notch or into the Shelf page. Drag it back out to another app when you need it. The shelf holds up to 12 references, copies nothing, and clears when Still quits. Removing an item from the shelf never deletes the original file.

Mac controls and activity

Still shows battery information when available, system output volume on supported audio devices, and CPU, memory, disk, and network activity. Buttons for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Display, Focus, Appearance, and Sound open System Settings. They do not bypass macOS controls.

Launch at Login

Turn on Launch at Login in Still Settings. If macOS requests approval, use Open Login Items Settings to allow it. This option starts off.

Requirements

macOS 14 or later. Works with Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, including displays without a notch. The glass appearance uses the native macOS 26 or later effect, with a material fallback on earlier versions.

Privacy and purchases

Still has no account, ads, tracking, or subscriptions. Read the Still Privacy Policy. Apple manages App Store purchases and refund requests through Report a Problem.
